New Procedure!

We have a new procedure for selling to visitors that have association, conservancy, or friends group memberships.

When a visitor tells you that they “have a membership with “such and such” association… do you give a discount?” We now have an easier way to handle that transaction. Simply ask what the name of the organization is [e.g. Grand Canyon Conservancy] or look at their membership card. Now go to the “Enter name or phone number” box in the upper right-hand corner of the “Sales Receipt” screen. Start typing the name of the organization you’re looking for and choose the correct name from the drop-down list that appears. Then click “Yes” on the pop-up “Price level change?” window that appears.

Now you’re all set! All pricing and discounts will be automatically calculated by the program and you won’t have to do anything extra before you finish the sale. We also know what organization to attribute that discount to. It will help eliminate the need to look up the association in a separate list… which keeps growing.

If the visitor has a membership card that looks like it’s probably legitimate but the organization name doesn’t come up on the drop-down list… you may use “Member Association” which will still adjust pricing and discounts.

Remember that certain items like memberships and postage stamps will not be discounted and we don’t give the member discount on anything that costs less than $1 or items that are already discounted in some other significant way… like close-out items.

Also note: Federal employees do not get a discount unless they have a current membership with INHA or some other similar association. They do not receive an “employee discount”. This is mandated by federal law and is not a policy that INHA came up with. We are more than happy to help anyone with the purchase of a membership [starting at $25 per year] and/or a 15% discount for those that possess a membership to INHA or another participating association.

We honor reciprocal discounts through more than seventy other participating PLA [Public Lands Alliance] members nationwide representing hundreds and hundreds of federal land sites. The vast majority of those same organizations will reciprocate and give a discount of at least 10% (maybe more) to members of INHA who present a valid membership card at checkout.
