Juneteenth-Monday, June 20, 2022

Juneteenth National Independence Day (June 19) became a federal legal public holiday last year. Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The date of June 19 is significant because on that day in 1865, word reached enslaved individuals in Texas that they were free. Communities have been celebrating Juneteenth since 1866. Many states already recognize Juneteenth as a holiday.

Because Juneteenth (observed on Monday, June 20th in 2022) is a federal holiday, banks and many government offices will be closed on that day. That means we have to process payroll early… on Friday, June 17th. We will pay everyone as per their schedule for Friday and Saturday instead of going by actual time sheets. If you work more or less than what is on your schedule on Friday or Saturday, you will need to notify us next week and your pay will be adjusted accordingly on our next payday.

We consider Juneteenth a paid holiday so if you work that day you will receive double wages for the hours worked. Bonus!! If you have any questions, please ask Ron. Yes, all visitor centers will be open as per our regular scheduled hours.
