Flaming Gorge Dam – Spring Releases Changing

Reclamation and the Fish and Wildlife Service are anticipating the initiation of the Larval Trigger Study Plan (LTSP) spring releases soon, though there still is no set date yet for the release.  The Yampa River is projected to peak this weekend and the FWS anticipates Razorback Sucker larvae to be in the system soon.  I’ve attached a public notice flier that can be posted and shared regarding the anticipated increased releases and associated dangers.  Recreationists on the Green River should take caution and be aware the increased flows in the river will be cold and swift.  LTSP releases are scheduled include a ramp up to full powerplant releases and full bypass the following day, maintaining 8,600 cubic feet per second (cfs) for 7 days, then followed by a 2,000 cfs/day ramp down rate.

Forecasted (tentative) hourly release schedules can be found by visiting the Colorado River Basin Forecast Center at this website: https://www.cbrfc.noaa.gov/station/flowplot/flowplot.cgi?GRZU1. However, updates could take some time, a day or so, to be reflected on the website. Tabulated hourly data can be found on this page under the link,  “Hourly Forecast Flow csv” in the lower right hand corner of the webpage, or navigating to this link: https://www.cbrfc.noaa.gov/product/hydrofcst/RVFCSV/GRZU1.fflw1.csv
