Changes

You have already noticed that the POS computers have been switched around. The #1 (HP) computer is now the only one at the counter and it will stay that way until spring. The #2 (Dell) computer, back on the desk, works and can print to the HP Laserjet printer that is on the desk as well as the the receipt printer, which will be used for deposit reports when Richard or Ron come over to do the deposits.

The cash in the safe (“Change fund”) has been reduced for the season, also. Please remember (and help the rangers remember) that the amount in the change fund should remain constant. If you need money from the change fund, you buy it. The overflow drawer above is for larger bills, checks, credit card batches, etc. Money in that drawer can be changed out at will… you don’t have to buy it. So, if there are ones or fives in there that you need for the POS cash drawer out front, you can just take them.

Try to keep excess cash down in the POS cash drawer on the counter. About $100 in twenty dollar bills is usually plenty so you can make change. $50’s and $100’s should be placed in the overflow drawer in the safe when it’s convenient. Every time we do a deposit, we reduce the cash drawer down to $100… so you will always be low on cash to make change for a while until visitors give you some more money. Until then, don’t be afraid to ask for smaller bills or a credit card.
