Change-Over of Quickbooks POS

We changed our Quickbooks Point of Sale over from 18.0 to 19.0 on Friday, June 18th. It won’t look a lot different to most of the staff but has some significant differences… and expensive.

The most important thing for everyone to know is to make sure you are in version 19.0. The shortcuts to 18.0 should be gone, but please just double-check. The shortcut (logo) for 19.0 is lighter green and a little more square.

The biggest thing all of you will see is a new PIN Pad device that will accept tap cards and Apple/Google Pay. It mostly works like the former PIN Pad, just time it carefully and have the customer follow the prompts on the screen.

There is a reset sequence for the PIN Pad if you need it. Hold down the YELLOW button. While holding it down, press the # key and hold both down until the screen changes… then release both buttons. It only takes a second or two. The machine will reboot and cycle through its start-up process… which may take a minute or two.

IMPORTANT: What was the #1 computer (next to the wall) is now the #2 computer… or workstation #2. It is the slave to #1 which is the server. The #1 computer should always be started first (if you are actually starting computers). #2 can start up after #1 is running and should shut down first… if you are actually shutting computers down… which should be rare.

The best thing to do at the end of the day is to exit the Quickbooks POS program on #2. Leave Quickbooks POS running on #1 with someone signed in and on the Home screen. You may turn the screen off. In the morning, as you are opening, go to #1, turn the screen on… in Quickbooks POS click File, EXIT, and let the program close out, backup, and quit. Now start Quickbooks POS, sign in… then go to the #2 computer, start Quickbooks POS and sign in. This should be done every day.

Please ask questions.
