Latest Road Construction Update – 18 September

Milling/pulverizing of the asphalt in the QVC parking lot has started. Surprise! (I learned about this at 8:30 am this morning, as did many others)

Back half or QVC parking lot is to be done today with remaining part tomorrow. Please park government and personal vehicles at the Green River Resource Center.

They are planning to create temporary accessible parking. They will also be doing temporary lines. It will potentially be a couple of weeks before the parking lot is paved. At some point, they will be doing the prime coat and the other stuff so expect there to be oil and dust in the parking lot for a bit.

Continued paving on the mainline of the Green River Road from monument boundary to past the entrance station will start back up on Friday (tomorrow) and is expected to be completed by Tuesday. (Yay!) Pilot car will be running again during paving operations.

We should plan on continuing to collect fees at the QVC through Monday or Tuesday and then should be good to reopen the fee booth after that.

Saturday work is starting this weekend, with work running from 7 am to 7 pm. Work will primarily be on the QEH parking lot and quarry road, so there should be minimal happening along the Green River Road other than trucks going back and forth.

Concrete work will be starting up again next week along the quarry road with curbs and the sidewalk connecting the Fossil Discovery Trail to the QEH.

Speaking of the Fossil Discovery Trail – trail will now be closed just past the Morrison Spur this afternoon (Thursday). Access to the Stump formation will no longer be possible. It may remain that way until the end of the QEH work.

Masonry work at the river viewpoint will probably be completed next week. Crews will then start prepping for the concrete viewing pad to go in. Here’s a look if you haven’t seen it up close.

That’s it for now. As always, expect changes, sometimes unannounced. Thanks for hanging in there. It’s all going to be great when it’s done.
