Federal Highways update from Thursday, May 15:
- Work that will reduce traffic to one lane will start on Monday, May 19. They will start with removing vegetation and adding erosion control. Then they plan to move to culvert removal and replacement.
- One way traffic will be flagged – wait times estimated to be less than 15 minutes.
- Flagging may start as early at 7 am, and go through 5 pm. Work could go past 5 pm if needed to finish something critical.
- Staff do not get any special bypass for the one-ways, we all just need to wait. It is the same story for the contractors. Slightly different story for anyone having contractions…
- Work will wrap up each night with the goal of getting back to 2 usable lanes. Memorial Day weekend – Work will wrap up no later than noon on Friday, May 23 and will not resume until Tuesday, May 27.
Let everyone know that Dinosaur Monument is open and will remain open with regular hours.
Plan on delays… 15 minutes each direction. Employees, if you get stopped and are sitting, go ahead and clock in.
